Canon HJ11ex4.7IRSE HD Wide Angle Lens

The Canon HJ11ex4.7IRSE is a 11x ultra-wide angle 2/3″ lens built to offer high performance in HDTV news gathering. The lens weighs only 4 lb and can be relied upon under harsh conditions. Additionally, the HJ11ex4.7B-IRSE is also equipped with features such as internal focus and shuttle-shot programmable positioning. The focal-length range is 4.7 to 52mm with a minimum object distance of 0.6 meters (2 feet) and comes with a 2x extender for increased telephoto capability. The HJ11x4.7B is a 4.7 – 52mm T2.1 portable high definition cine zoom lens offered by Canon. It is the widest-angle 2/3-inch digital motion picture zoom lens within a family of three – the others being the long-zoom 7.5 – 158mm T2.1 and the companion short-zoom 5.5 – 44mmT2.1 lenses. This lens is intended for directors and cinematographers who seek a really wide-angle cine lens with excellent geometry behavior for digital motion picture production of prime time drama and episodic television, television commercials, and feature movies.

ABOUT THIS LENS The HJ11x4.7B will be attractive to those cinematographers who seek the widest-angle capability combined with a flexible degree of control over focal length. Weighing in at only 4.4 lbs, the lens is ideal for handheld, compact tripod, lightweight jib-arm, and Steadicam shooting. The design has achieved a particularly high MTF that is optimally distributed across the image plane and that holds up superbly over the entire 4.7mm to 52mm focal range. Combined with the excellent contrast performance and a remarkably well-controlled relative light distribution characteristic, the resultant picture sharpness produces vividly crisp images that will impress the most exacting cinematographer. Chromatic aberrations are tightly controlled over the 11x zoom range by the use of high index low dispersion materials. Contrast was extended by superb control of black reproduction – with optical and mechanical design innovations that substantially reduced flare, veiling glare, and any internal reflections. Similar attention to minimization of ghost images and other highlight-related chromatic distortions caused by strong light sources on-axis and off-axis further extend the operational contrast range of the lens. The HJ11x4.7B lens has a maximum relative photometric aperture of T2.1 that is maintained over most of the focal range of the lens (it lowers slightly to T2.7 at full telephoto). It has exceptional behavior in terms of the ever-challenging specification on geometric distortion at the very wide-angle focal lengths. Focus breathing in this lens is extremely well controlled – to where the undesirable alteration of angle of view with actuation of the focus control is now virtually eliminated.
